I need your help choosing a name
Some minor/not-so-minor and necessary "re-titling" has to occur
Hiya!
Yesterday I had an interesting meeting about an IRL project for the autumn, and two people in the meeting mentioned that my Substack name is very similar to a shop a few villages over from mine. So of course I had to check it out, and YIKES (!!!!) it’s almost the same (I use an indefinite article in my moniker). While off the island nobody is going to care, I care.
Plus A Naturalist’s Notebook was always a temporary title just so I could get started and not get hung up on something that causes a delay. (In other words, generate an excuse to give in to imposter syndrome…) I just thought I wouldn’t have to think about it so soon.
So what do you think of the following choices for this publication’s name?
Cricklewood is non-negotiable as it has a special meaning to me, but I’d love to know if any of the below iterations speak to you.
While I’m trying to tap into a vibe that this is an intimate-observant-creative-interpretive-inspirational-motivating-expressive space about the topic of nature and our relationship to it, I definitely think of this as a multi-media publication.
The poll will be up for the next three days (closes end of Friday), so I can make a final decision over the weekend. Thank you so much for your help!
Let me know in the comments if you have other thoughts on a name.

I love Cricklewood on its own! But out of the three choices you mentioned, I like ‘journal’ most of all.
Also, I don’t want to give careless advice and think it’s most important how you feel about the name. Some bigwig here on Substack gave me tossed-off advice, and it didn’t sit well; wouldn’t want to do that to you:
