Web-Only: Experimenting with watercolor grounds on wood slices

Making mockups and discussing the possible effect of different watercolor grounds on a current project.

Hi friends,

In the video, I explain my dilemma over which watercolor ground to use for my project. I’m working on a series of small bird illustrations in ink and wash on wood slices and trying to use my studio time efficiently by creating a Photoshop mockup of the conceivable outcome of the different grounds: titanium white, buff titanium, and clear.

It’s an off-the-cuff, in-the-moment style video (seriously, do I film any other kind?), so excuse the production quality. I’d love to know your opinion, so if you have the time and inclination leave a comment below or on Notes. Or better yet, participate in the poll!
